Bad Breath Halitosis: Cause, Effect, and Cure
Conditions:
Bad breath halitosis affects many people in many ways. Some people have been hexed by halitosis for years and years. For others, their bad breath problems surface only occasionally. In either case, the root cause of the problem is generally the same. In this article, we would like to share with you:
- What causes bad breath
- How to prevent bad breath
- A natural cure for bad breath
The old saying of you are what you eat is very appropriate when it comes to understanding the causes of bad breath. In simple terms, the odors that we detect in bad breath are caused by waste products (usually sulfur compounds) excreted by the microorganisms that live in our oral cavity. The presence of these little microbes is normal and should not cause alarm. All healthy people have them.
The problems of bad breath halitosis occur when these microbes ingest certain foods, such as alcohol and sugar, which causes them to release the odor-producing compounds that we refer to as halitosis and bad breath.
Other issues may include:
- Post nasal drip halitosis
- Diabetes bad breath problems
- Even bad breath in dogs
All of these bad breath problems are caused by odor-producing microbes. And because of that, they can be prevented.
To prevent the bacteria from producing the offensive odors, we must inhibit the reactions that take place between the bacteria and the substances that they are feeding on. This is true even with bad breath in dogs and cats. But in order to do that, we need to avoid ingesting the same materials that caused the problems in the first place. One of the major contributors to this problem is sugar.
We bring up the issue of sugar because many of the fresh breath products that are currently available contain sugar! That's right. The same substance that you should avoid when trying to cure bad breath is readily available in the so-called bad breath treatments.
With this being the case, the best way to cure bad breath halitosis is to use a product that does not contain sugar and/or alcohol, but rather contains the all-natural ingredients of peppermint, spearmint, and almond essential oils that have been proven in global studies to inhibit the odors produced by our own bacteria. One of the best products that does exactly that is OraMD®.
For the treatment of chronic halitosis, and for daily use as well for the prevention of bad breath halitosis, keep these essential oils in mind.
